release & versand am 29.08.2016 dl/ms/ is the new project of dan lodig and martin sovinz, who have joined forces for a three-track debut of jacking analogue techno that brings both artists fortes to the table. dan lodig contributes the rhythmics and staggering arpeggios. martin sovinz complements this with the eerie keys and masterful effect use that show off his impressive skills of putting his analogue gear park to work. far from being a one-off project, /dl/ms/ have been working on their music over the past months, and further releases on pomelo, trust, and more are on the horizon.

it started as an event series by re.you where he invites other appreciated djs to share the decks with him - so far he had younion nights with &me, tiefschwarz, anja schneider or adana twins. now heis transferring the >re.you invites< concept to a label idea. he invites his favorite artists to release with him on his new imprint >younion< - for the very first edition he signed terranova, who gained a lot of attention with their lps on kompakt - furthermore he is releasing a newcomer duo from berlin called eins tiefer who already released on upon.you records and last but not least re.you himself is delivering a track for the first ep.

fideles is the joint moniker of italian duo daniele aprile and mario roberti, who have carved out a niche for their distinctive brand of deep, techy house on noted labels such as defected, be as one, and marco resmann’s upon you, among others. here on their first outing for poker flat recordings, the duo cook up four courses of lean, focussed tech-house for steve bug’s seminal imprint. ‘detuned’ starts the journey - an edgy, tense groove exhibiting the boy’s masterful sound design and use of space to create a thick, intoxicated atmosphere. ‘i’m rude’ is more direct - a thumping bass drum introduces a low slung bass groove, slowly evolving and mutating into a true party-starter. ‘worthy’ uses similar building blocks but delivers a different vibe altogether, revelling in a minimalist production aesthetic and cheeky bass riff. ‘ran baran’, the title track, is another lesson in great production - each element perfectly balanced to create an atmosphere of controlled mayhem - which is exactly the response this entire ep aims to instigate on dancefloors.

federico leocata is an italian audio-visual artist who has exhibited in athens, thessaloniki and catania. later expanding his art into the field of sound based analysis of the human psyche. first discovered by heinrich mueller (dopplereffekt, drexciya), federico released his first ep in 2010 for the belgian imprint wemè records, attracting further interest from labels like frustrated funk and last known trajectory.

damien lynch enjoys countryside a drive in the twilight hour. this is his second offering for the esp institute. on side a, brunette opens with a straight-ahead techno thump of hi-hats and a pulsating 16th-note bassline—a subtle playing field composed solely with a rare 1970’s italian machine, the godwin drummaker 32, unearthed from the secret back room of a music shop in rural ireland where it hid among wonderful vintage russian synths and oddball electronics. this elegant track drips with warm and phasing pads, gentle staccato keys and beautifully simple arpeggios that blur every now and then—all affirming damien’s less-is-more ideology. with side b’s forced relax, damien continues to exercise his restraint, arranging his instruments in a band-like fashion, affording each player the sonic space to project their individual qualities whilst supporting an overall dialogue. there is a soft ebb and flow to every machine’s role, whether the swelling of bass or the interplay of percussive keys, but when these characters arrive in one place, the result is a tranquil euphoria. these two songs will accept you for who you truly are.

melodie is cristi tudorache from bucharest, an artist who has made quite a name for himself through the 2 highly acclaimed releases on raresh s metereze and french label rora in 2015. this is his latest ep, alderaan, named after an extinct planet in star wars. alma01 includes the much sought-after acid saturday, the track that has had threads dedicated to it all over the web after rpr soundsystem played it at weather festival in 2015. the ep debuts the almanah label, a new romanian label under the curatorship of the origami sound / interval crew.

this up and coming producer is already a legend amongst the crew of techno freaks in brooklyn. with previous releases on local imprint lovers rock, and releases slated for proibito and exotic dance under the the aliases dj python and dj xanax, dj wey aka brian pinyero has contributed a massive 12” to bank records. the a side “song for masahiro” is dedicated to masahiro ueda, a dj and friend who graced the bk scene by way of japan. it’s a bass heavy tune with melodic pads floating in the forefront amongst the occasional cheering sample. it s perfect for either opening or closing a set midsummer. in contrast, the b side opens with “flow on.” with its distorted kicks, relentless claps and hypnotic bells one could imagine hearing it on a nightmarish carnival ride...fit that into a set. the record ends on an electro tip with spaced out pads, backwards samples and classic electro style drum patterns. distinct in sound and diverse in approach, don t sleep on the homie dj wey.
